I've been looking forward to the Hunger Games movie since I read the books about a year or so ago and I was annoyed when people online started comparing the books to Twilight. I could understand the Battle Royale references because the two fall under the same genre. (It's like comparing two superhero movies.)

But I really don't understand the comparison to Twilight except that they were both written for teens, but Hunger Games is darker, has a stronger female protagonist (though that's not saying much considering Bella "Damsel in Distress" Swan), and actually has a fairly good theme and meaning behind it.

I don't know...to me it's like comparing V for Vendetta with Twilight. It doesn't make any damn sense.

So yeah...I'm using Erin to voice my opinion...but I didn't want to get too preachy about it.

Anyway, I'm going to go see the movie later today and I'm going early while the teeny boppers are in school.

Erin wins an internet, whether she can cash in on it or not.

Comparing a book to Twilight is NOT respecting it, Beatrix.

Twilight sucks, hunger games rocks.
How can you possible compare the two?
I don't see any sparkle vampires in hunger games. (thank god.)

I'm actually fine with sparkle vampires, under one condition: They die in the paragraph they were introduced.

And so it follows that The Hunger Games is like V For Vendetta in that neither should ever be compared to Twilight.

I think if they just took away the sparkles on the general biological design of the Twilight vampires they would be all right. Maybe made them not as totally invincible to anything other than other vampires or, like, a nuclear missile.
