I sat down one day and wrote scripts for this entire arc. When I put out number III, I had a friend ask me if that meant Erin was a lesbian. No, Erin is not a lesbian. She's only 8 (dragon years, she's 10.) It's a little too early for her. Anyway, she is a bit of a nerd. Some of us nerds have a harder time with the opposite sex. Soo...I went back and I took out the panel where Jennifer is getting Erin's attention so that I could include the question "Do you even like boys?". (I'm sorry, Lukas, I wasn't upset by your question, I just thought it'd add to my comic if I addressed it.)

What Jennifer displays in this comic is pretty much what I've gotten from the majority of the classes I've substitute for if they were really young. (Jennifer, by the way is about 6 is human years, 8 in dragon years) and she's around the age that she's going to ask older female influences these questions. I normally got similar questions from the girls in the class I subbed:

"Are you married."
"No."
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Uh..."

Finally, you'll probably notice Erin is reading the book that consumed most of my weekend. I was originally planning on doing a flashback comic to commemorate the release of the final Harry Potter volume, showing subtly younger Rachel and Sam and a drastically younger Erin (1 year old by the time the book came out and getting closer to her second birthday.) This comic, of course, takes place a good seven years after the book came out. I mean, growing up with the full series out, I'm sure Erin has read it before, but it's still a gentle nod to the great time consumer of the past two days for me and a Congratulations to Rowling for her work.

And as maybe a couple of you guessed, Erin is kind of a Mary Sue or me personified (dragonified?) within the comic(even though I'm a guy) and she tends to like the same things I do.
