I would imagine an upper bunk would be awkward to make out with your girlfriend on and Kim's lower bunk was just more convenient.

Ah...regarding today's question...this was a bit hard to write...not because I got all emotional or anything like that. Mostly because I'm an American and was in the 10th grade when this happened, so it hit me just as hard as anyone else here in America.

But I kinda guessed at other countries and dragons. I could be off on the other countries, but dragons are (as Rachel said) a bit disconnected from it, but not so they're unsympathetic.

According to reddit sources, other countries panicked a bit at first (they had some embassies in the WTC, and it's a pretty big terrorist event regardless of nation), but it died off for them in under a year, as opposed to the USA's "guise it's the 12th anniversary everybody remember" attitude.

My family usually doesn't think about it since it's also my brothers birthday. We are usually focused on that.

I guess dragons can always see these things in someone else's flashback.

Unless he's telling the story like this.

Keep in mind that in the visual medium, you're only getting half of what the person relaying the flashback to the other is saying. All the descriptions and so on are filtered into the image you're seeing.

So David is probably saying "so there I was, sitting on the bed with Erin..." and so on...and Kim's like "wait...who's bed?!?"

I'm reminded of the scene in Futurama, where Zoidberg is being described in a flashback, and is shown with hair.

Hermes: Zoidberg was popular?!
Amy: Zoidberg had hair?!
Professor: I never said he had hair! If you chose to imagine him that way, it's your problem!
